Florida Panthers Development game
Hello everyone, this is my first blog post of many, so I hope you enjoy it. The topic of today's post is the Florida Panthers Development game that took place yesterday. I'd like to focus on one player in particular: Charlie and I'd like to focus on one player in particular, that would be Charlie Robertson, the 18-year goaltender from London Ontario. He played the second half of the game and was outstanding with some incredible saves. This young prospect has a bright future ahead of him, and I hope to see him in a Panther uniform one day. With that being said, let us talk about this young man. From 2021-2022 he played a total of 4 games for ridley college. With a GAA (Goals Against average) of 3.09 and an SV% (Save Percentage) of .897 with a Record of 2-1-0. He is now playing in the OHL for the North Bay Battalion with 21 Games played a GAA of 3.17 a SV% of .892 with 3 shutouts, a record of 12-6-0 and one playoff appearance. I am no hockey expert, but I would say that's rather good. With that being said let's get into it. My evaluation of what I think his potential could be first. I'd like to start with his weaknesses that I saw because there's only one and yes you read that correctly only one. That would be top of the net on his blocker side, but of course, with great coaching from Robb Tallas and some pointers from the legend Roberto Luongo he will improve I'm certain. Now let us get to the things I thought he was great at. The first thing I noticed was his spatial awareness to know where everyone is on the ice at all times. The next thing I noticed was his communication, he was very vocal with his teammates every shift. I feel that is a very important skill for a goaltender. The third thing I noticed was his rebound control, almost Bobrovsky like, and as any hockey fan knows Bob is one of the best. The final thing I noticed and to round this out would be his vision, Robertson was screened multiple times, and that was never an issue for him. So where do I see Robertson in the future you ask? Well as of now I see him being a great affiliate goaltender for the Panthers, perhaps in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers or the ECHL with the Kelly Cup Champions, the Florida Everblades, and in due time with our Florida Panthers. With that being said Charlie Robertson I wish you the best in your hockey career. We will all be watching.
